Oseco's Recycle Program Committee organized an awareness event in the spirit of Earth Day this year. The group hosted a "lunch-n-learn" style event and invited American Waste Control (AWC) to Oseco's facility to educate employees on what happens to recyclables downstream in the sorting and processing system.
While Oseco has been responsibly recycling scrap metal from manufacturing processes for a long time, a small group of employees teamed up in 2015 to bring a wider awareness initiative to the company. The initiative was well-received and the employee-lead group has since implemented a company-wide recycling program that captures multiple recycling streams. The program aims to educate employees about proper recycling and its benefits, both in the workplace and at home. The Oseco "Green Team," as they call themselves, are proud to aid the organization in managing its processes in a way that is environmentally responsible. "You just don't find many manufacturing companies with that kind of mentality, it makes Oseco a neat place to work." said one employee.
The group is now gearing up to expand the program into new facilities in coming months, as the Oseco campus expansion project approaches completion of a third building.
