Q: Do you have to have an excess flow valve on the tell tale indicator assembly when you install a rupture disc under a safety relief valve?
A: No. ASME only requires you to have the tell tale assembly or pressure switch to monitor the pressure between the disc and safety relief valve. The excess flow valve is to vent very low pressure away from the disc since it's a differential pressure device.
